James A. Haslam II
Jim is the Founder and Chairman of Pilot Corporation, the nation’s largest retailer of diesel fuel for over-the-road trucks, the 25th largest restaurant franchisee in the U.S. and the operator of 67 convenience stores and 270 travel centers in the country. He serves on the Board of Directors of The Trust Company, University Health System, the Knoxville Chamber of Commerce and the United Way of Greater Knoxville. He is a former Vice Chairman and current member of the Board of Trustees of the University of Tennessee and former member of the Board of AmSouth Bancorporation and First American Bank. The University of Tennessee has recognized Jim by awarding him the Chancellor’s Award for Extraordinary Service (1978) and the Volunteer of the Year Award (1992) and by inducting him into the Tennessee Sports Hall of Fame (1986). Jim earned his bachelor’s degree in finance from the University of Tennessee and then served in the United States Army Corps of Engineers, where he completed a tour of duty in the Korean War.
